All electronic devices and appliances need proper maintenance and cleaning to work properly. And so do water dispensers.
Your water dispenser supplier must have provided you with a guideline on how to clean and maintain your water dispenser. However, if you don’t have any or you need a detailed version, here is one for you.
Below, is a stepwise guide on how to clean your water dispenser? Read on and clean your water dispenser accordingly.
The first step of cleaning a water dispenser is to unplug the power supply. This step is critically important because if you forget to remove the plug, you might get harmed. So, don’t forget to remove the power supply. After that, make sure to drain the water. There is some water stored in the reservoir even after the bottle is empty. So, make sure the reservoir is empty before you start with the cleaning job.
The next step is to remove all the parts of the water dispenser. It may include the water bottle, lid, and baffle. The baffle is a blue or white funnel or disk-like part placed over the reservoir. Don’t forget to wash them with a normal detergent and let them dry.
Now it’s time to clean the reservoir. Three types of solutions can be used to clean the reservoir:
Now that you know about the types of water dispenser cleaning solutions, you must be what to do with this cleaning solution?
Well, it is easy!! All you need to do is pour the cleaning solution into the reservoir and let it rest for at least 5 minutes. You can leave it for more time as well. After that, push the cold water dispense button and drain the solution into an empty bucket.
If you have a hot and cold water dispenser, make another cleaning solution and repeat the step for the hot water dispense button as well.
The next step is to rinse your reservoir. Fill your reservoir with clean tap water and drain it through the water dispense button. You will need to repeat this step 3 to 4 times to completely clean the reservoir and make sure there is no residue of the cleaning solution left in the reservoir.
Repeat the step for the hot water dispense button as well if you have a hot and cold water dispenser.
This step is not necessary and you can skip it if you want. Unscrew the taps and wash them with regular detergent and rinse them thoroughly. You can also use a damp cloth to clean them.
Now the inside of your water dispenser is completely cleaned. You can put back all the components and don’t forget to check if it’s working perfectly by pouring down some water into the reservoir and draining it through the hot and cold dispense buttons.
Lastly, clean the exterior of your water dispenser. You can use a damp cloth or warm water with mild detergent to clean it. Simply use a clean sponge to wipe the outer surface and wipe it with a dry cloth.
Now that your water dispenser is completely cleaned, put a new water bottle and turn on the power supply. But before turning on the power supply, make sure that the water dispenser is completely dry and there is no water residue left on it.
Ideally, a water dispenser should be cleaned whenever a new bottle is placed. However, if your water consumption is a lot, you can clean the water dispenser after every six weeks. You can also consult your water dispenser supplier for the right guidance regarding the water dispenser cleaning regime.
